四川省人口和计划生育科学研究所（WHO人类生殖研究合作中心）本周期与WHO的合作（2020.9.30-2023.9.30）即将到期，目前已启动合作中心续认程序。经与WHO反复讨论，拟定下一合作周期（2023.9.30至2026.9.30）包括4项活动的工作计划，为保证合作项目执行并完成的质量，现就项目名称、要求进行公示。有意承担者应有保证项目实施质量和进度的措施，预期困难的应对和解决方法，以及研究团队的组建及优势，并在下周一（6月5日）之前提交书面承诺到朱云花处。

项目活动1

TOR 1: CONTRIBUTE TO WHO RESEARCH ON EXPERIENCES OF MALE INFERTILITY

Activity Title: Adapt and finalise WHO protocol A-ID: A66040 on experiences of male infertility

Type of activity: Research

Why WHO is asking for this activity and how WHO will use the deliverables?

Research on experiences of men with infertility is neglected globally. WHO is requesting Sichuan Family Planning Research Institute institute to adapt and implement the above protocol so as to generate additional critical data on the above subject area. The above protocol had been initially developed for implementation in Bangladesh (and is expected to be initiated in July 2023). However, additional information from China will be essential towards building a more comprehensive picture. This data will be used by WHO to inform and advocate for fertility care for men in different countries.

What concrete actions will be taken by the designated institution? Be specific.

1. Adapt the WHO protocol A-ID: A66040

2. Identify research sites, plan for recruitment and testing of the study tools.

3. Acquire necessary ethical approval from the Institutional Review Board and participating sitess

4. Implement the research protocol in accordance with timelines agreed with WHO.

5. Submit a report of key findings and disseminate results in a peer-reviewed journal article.

What will be WHO’s role in this activity?

2. WHO may collaborate on the review and/or authorship of manuscript at the request of the

collaborating institute.

TOR 2. ASSIST WHO IN THE TRANSLATION AND DISSEMINATION OF GUIDELINES ON INFERTILITY

Activity title：Translation and dissemination of the WHO guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and management of infertility

Type of activity：Information dissemination

Why WHO is asking for this activity and how WHO will use the deliverables?

The WHO is in the process of developing guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility. The guidelines are expected to be completed in 2024. These guidelines will assist Ministries of Health, clinical service providers, and other stakeholders in providing essential fertility services as per WHO recommendations. Once completed, these guidelines will need to be translated to several languages in order to effectively reach the global audience.

The WHO is requesting the Sichuan Family Planning Research Institute to (i) assist in the translation of the WHO guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility from English to Chinese languages; and (ii) support the dissemination of the guidelines in China. This translation and dissemination will assist WHO to reach the Chinese stakeholders with update guidance and recommendations.

What concrete actions will be taken by the designated institution? Be specific.

1. Translate the WHO guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility from English into Chinese.

2. Disseminate the Chinese versions of the WHO guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and management of infertility through online means.

3. Disseminate information related to WHO guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and management of infertility through physical or virtual trainings, conferences and workshops.

What will be WHO’s role in this activity?

1. The WHO will develop the English version of the WHO guidelines on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility and provide them to the Sichuan Family Planning Research Institute as soon as they become available.

TOR 3. SUPPORT IN THE DISSEMINATION OF THE 6^TH EDITION OF THE LABORATORY EXAMINATION AND PROCESSING OF HUMAN

Activity Title：Dissemination of the Chinese Version of the WHO Manual on the Laboratory examination and processing of human semen

Why WHO is asking for this activity and how WHO will use the deliverables?

The Chinese version of the 6^th edition of the WHO Manual on the Laboratory examination and processing of human semen has now been published with the support of the entity. The revised 6th edition has new additions and expanded section expansion of the sections which need to be understood by healthcare providers. The semen manual therefore needs to be disseminated widely.

The WHO is requesting the Sichuan Family Planning Research Institute to assist in the Dissemination of the Chinese version of the semen manual.

What concrete actions will be taken by the designated institution? Be specific.

1. Disseminate the Chinese version of the WHO Manual on the Laboratory examination and processing of human semen through workshops.

2. Perform training of healthcare providers using the Chinese version of the WHO Manual on the Laboratory examination and processing of human semen through workshops.

Sichuan Family Planning Research Institute may collaborate with another WHO CC in conducting activity (such as the National Research Institute for Family Planning (WHO Collaborating Centre for Research in Human Reproduction, CHN-68) in conducting training workshop on the Chinese Version of the WHO Semen Manual.

WHO is expected to provide technique support and guidance

Expected deliverables

Conduct National TOT workshop on the dissemination of the sixth edition of the laboratory examination and procession of human semen, focusing on the standard procedures for semen analysis, internal and external quality control by didactic training, video demonstration and hands-on practice.

Disseminate information on the sixth edition of the semen examination manual through academic channels such as webinars, and forums.

TOR 4. SUPPORT THE SYNTHESIS OF EVIDENCE IN INFERTILITY

Activity title：Conduct a systematic review of men’s experiences of infertility in China.

Why WHO is asking for this activity and how WHO will use the deliverables?

While male factors are responsible for a significant proportion of fertility impairments responsibility and blame is generally put on women. Consequently, scholars have recently argued that unless male factor infertility is prioritised, women will continue to be unfairly blamed for all cases of infertility, a significant proportion of all infertility cases will not be treated, and men’s experiences with infertility will remain invisible in contemporary discourses.

What concrete actions will be taken by the designated institution? Be specific.

Conduct systematic review and evidence synthesis on male infertility in China, focussing on men’s (i) lived experiences; (ii) access to biomedical service; (iii) treatment-seeking pathways

What will be WHO’s role in this activity?
